Assistance

The Lab Help Desk Assistants are available help you with various lab issues, such as account creation, HarvardKey, how to add print credit, item checkout, and general computer assistance. Lab Help Desk Assistants are not IT professionals, but will make a best effort towards solving any lab software or hardware issue brought to their attention.

Access

The IQSS Computer Labs use FAS active directory accounts that must be flagged specifically for use in our labs. Accounts can be flagged by signing up for lab access at the Lab Help Desk during normal business hours. Please note that you will need to present a valid Harvard ID card when signing up.

Patrons who do not have FAS active directory accounts may sign up for lab access and the Lab Help Desk will sponsor a FAS active directory account for your use. Please note that this process may take up to one business day to complete for new users.

Lab Signups must be done in person to verify identity. Please feel free to visit us during business hours.

After Hours Building Access

Our Computer labs are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. CGIS Knafel building access is required to enter any of our labs after the building closes for the day.

CGIS Knafel building front doors are open during the academic year:

  • Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 10 PM
  • Sunday, 1P to 9PM PM

During school holidays (including spring break) and summer months, CGIS Knafel building front doors are open as follows:

  • Monday through Friday, 7 AM to 7 PM
  • Saturday and Sunday, Closed

The IQSS Computer Lab cannot grant access to the CGIS Knafel building. To request access faculty or Administrative Sponsor should send an email containing the name and HUID of the person needing access to the following:

CGIS Building Operations will assign CGIS Data Center Guest CL and reply to the original email, generally within 24 hours.
